What can you sell?

Business EngineSoftware that buyers can use to launch a SaaS product, AI-powered service, or software-based business.Examples: AI lead generation platforms, vertical SaaS, automated content businesses.
Autonomous UnitSoftware that automates a specific business function or workflow, with limited or no human intervention.Examples: customer support agents, sourcing systems, sales automation.
ComponentReusable AI agents, software modules, APIs, and other components that buyers can integrate into their own products.Examples: RAG modules, agent frameworks, document-processing engines.
Not sure your software is ready? It doesn't have to be a finished commercial product. If you have working code and the rights to license it, BigFish can help you understand what's missing before listing.

Express Assessment

Check your software in 3 minutes

Share a link and answer two questions. An AI agent checks eligibility, estimates what your asset could be worth as a license, and tells you what to improve before listing.

✓We only ask what the agent can't infer. Working scenarios, deployment, tests, dependencies and docs it reads itself. ✓Private repo is fine — the agent estimates from your description and widens the range honestly. ✓Not a code review or security audit. Technical signals matter only where they affect transferability, operating risk, or cost of ownership.

What would change the answerWritten permission from the rights holder, or a core under a license that allows commercial use (MIT, Apache 2.0, BSD). Price guidance isn't shown until rights are clear — so you don't anchor on a number we couldn't honor.

How Price Guidance is built

Three independent inputs, then a realistic asking range for the asset in its current state. Uncertainty widens the range; weak transferability lowers it.
Input 1Replacement ValueWhat it would cost to recreate comparable capability today — workflows, integrations, admin, deployment, tests, docs. Not the size of the repo: a thin wrapper around open source counts for little; dense domain logic counts for a lot.Sets the floor. Buyers pay a fraction of “build”.
Input 2Economic ValueWhat the asset could earn or save a buyer per year — labor avoided, tools replaced, time to market, throughput. Depends on asset type; shown as a yearly range, never a point.Sets the ceiling. Value isn't price.
Input 3Market EvidenceComparable asset sales, SaaS substitutes, custom-build quotes and the human process they replace — each weighted by similarity, recency and evidence quality.Gains weight as BigFish closes its own deals.
What moves the range down
Transferability — can a buyer really take it and run itEvidence — how well it's proven to workCommercial readiness — is it clear who buys it and whyRights & dependency risk — licenses, third-party servicesLiquidity — how many buyers could want it
What moves the range wider — confidence
HighCode, demo, deployment and real use visible; inputs agree. e.g. $5.5–6.5k
MediumOpen code, little usage history. e.g. $4.5–7.5k
LowDescription only or private repo. e.g. $3–9k. First fix: grant read access
Confidence measures how sure we are about the estimate, not how good the asset is. No artificial price cap for unproven assets — strong replacement value and transferability can justify a range above the typical one, and the report says so.

Questions sellers ask
